Neurotoxins
Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport are all injectable neurotoxins that can help to improve the appearance of wrinkles. Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles, while Xeomin and Dysport work by preventing the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract. Injections are usually given every three to four months, and results typically last for four to six months. Neurotoxins can be used to treat wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. Injections typically take about 15 minutes, and there is no downtime required afterwards. Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport are all safe and effective treatments for wrinkles, and can help you to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Fillers
Dermal fillers have become increasingly popular in recent years, as people seek to achieve a more youthful appearance. Fillers are injectable substances that can be used to add volume to the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. They can also be used to improve the contours of the face, providing a subtle lift to the cheekbones or jawline. In addition, fillers can be used to plump up the lips, avoid a turndown mouth, or add definition to the eyebrows. Dermal fillers are made from a variety of different substances, including hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-occurring substance that helps to keep the skin hydrated. Fillers are typically temporary, lasting for six months to a year before they are metabolized by the body. However, some types of filler may last for longer periods of time. Dermal fillers are generally considered safe, with minimal side effects. The most common side effect is bruising or swelling at the injection site, which typically resolves within a few days. If you are considering dermal fillers, call us today to set up a consultation to ensure that you receive the best possible results.

CUTERA LIMELIGHT
Overview
Cutera Limelight IPL is a medical grade, non-invasive light-based device designed to combat age spots, freckles, skin redness, tiny facial veins and skin damage from the sun. IPL can be one of the most effective treatments for telangiectasia and is often used to treat the dilated capillaries which often appear as visible reddish or purple clusters. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photodamage. Brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment. It’s also a great treatment for sun damaged decolletage areas.
How Cutera Limelight IPL Works
The Limelight IPL treatment uses advanced non-laser IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology. We gently deliver precise amounts of light energy to the area being treated. The light passes through the skin’s surface to help release stubborn sun spots, reduce blood flow to broken capillaries and stimulate collagen production. The new collagen softens the appearance of the skin, reducing the effects of aging such as: enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles. It is also extremely effective in treating redness and acne associated with rosacea.
Benefits
- Helps remove solar lentigines and skin pigmentation
- Improve skin tone
- Restore youthful glow to your face
- Helps reduce vascular lesion
- Minimal to no downtime
- S. FDA clearance for a variety of indications including benign pigmented lesions and vascular lesions
How to Prepare
If you are planning to have a Limelight IPL facial, please avoid sun exposure, tanning beds and self-tanners for at least two weeks prior to your procedure. It is also advised that you stay hydrated and not wear any makeup or skincare products before arriving at your appointment.
What to Expect
A Limelight IPL photofacial begins with application of a clear get applied over the areas of treatment followed by IPL application which can be completed in about 20-30 minutes in one of our comfortable medical spa treatment rooms. The gel is applied to clean and dry skin and eye protection with a special shield will be placed during the procedure. The IPL photofacial treatment is carried out with a handheld device that emits pulses of energy as it passes over the skin. You may feel some slight discomfort that will end when the photofacial is over.
After the procedure, some patients can experience pinkness or redness, like a sunburn. This usually fades within a couple hours. If you are being treated for hyperpigmentation, the pigment may initially get darker and more pronounced as the spots become more superficial. Several sessions are needed to complete the treatment.
Recovery
There is no downtime with the Limelight IPL Photofacial, but , for at least two weeks after treatment, it is vital to keep your skin protected from harmful UV rays and apply sunscreen (SPF 50 at a minimum) before going outside. Sun damage will interfere with the effectiveness of IPL. It is also important that you try not to pick at the skin as it heals.
Do not exfoliate your skin for at least seven days to prevent further irritation or complications. Try to avoid excessive heat from saunas or steam rooms for at least 24 hours and put off any strenuous exercise for that amount of time as well. This helps prevent blistering of the treated area. As stated earlier, do not pick at the flaking skin. The flaking is a sign that the treatment is working, but the process must happen naturally. You are permitted to clean your skin once or twice a day with lukewarm or tepid water and a gentle cleanser. If this is your first IPL treatment, your skin may feel a bit sensitive, especially outdoors.
While some results are apparent the same day of your treatment, optimal results will appear after approximately 3 to 6 sessions.
Laser Genesis
Overview
Laser Genesis by Cutera, is a treatment that can improve the appearance of redness, enlarged pores, uneven texture, fine lines and wrinkles. This non-invasive procedure uses a laser to gently heat the skin, resulting in the production of new skin cells, elastin, and collagen. This results in clinically improved skin tone and texture. Unlike other laser treatments, Laser Genesis is designed for safe and effective treatment on all skin types and ethnicities.
How does Laser Genesis work?
Laser genesis works by heating the dermis directly under the skin; this stimulates collagen production, which plumps the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The heat from the laser can also constrict blood vessels, which helps fight redness and rosacea. When used to treat acne and scarring, the heat from the laser kills bacteria on the epidermis and deep within the skin. As a result, active acne will diminish, future breakouts will be prevented, scars will heal, and the appearance of your wrinkles and creases will improve.
Benefits
- Repairs sun damaged skin
- Restores skin tone and texture
- Reduce the effects of acne scarring and various other scars (ie. trauma related, surgical, and burns)
- Reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- Diminish pore size
How to Prepare
On the day of your treatment do not wear makeup and shave the area to be treated if indicated. Avoid sun exposure and artificial tanning (light-based or sunless tanning products) in the treatment area for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. Use a daily sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50. Avoid applying skin irritants to your skin (products containing retinoic acid or benzoyl peroxide) for 1 week before your treatment. If you have received dermal filler treatments or Botox injections, wait at least 2 weeks before having any laser treatments. Although this treatment is not targeted for hair removal, hair removal/reduction may occur in the area being treated.
What to Expect
When you arrive at SahaVida Institute, we will clean your face to ensure no makeup or residual oils are present in the area of treatment. If there is residual hair in the field of treatment we will offer to shave the area to ensure optimal results. Once the treatment area has been cleaned the procedure will begin and should take 20-30 minutes to complete depending on the area. The laser itself looks like a small wand that’s hooked up to a larger machine. You will wear goggles, and in some cases, your hair will be covered. During your Laser Genesis treatment, you can expect a warm sensation on your skin as the laser is passed over the treatment area. Most patients report that the treatment is relatively comfortable and requires no numbing cream or anesthesia. Some people say the sensation is pleasant. Once the treatment is completed, your skin may be a little pink. This should last for only a few hours following treatment.
One of the best things about Laser Genesis treatments is that you will see some immediate results. These results get better over time and with more treatments. After just one treatment, you should notice smoother, healthier-looking skin.
Recovery
Recovery from laser genesis is minimal, and you should be able to resume normal activities immediately. After one session, you will notice your skin looks brighter and more youthful, and your pores look smaller. You should see noticeable results within 3 to 4 weeks as the new collagen and skin cells created during the procedure rise to the surface. The best results will typically appear after three to six treatments, depending on the condition of your skin and what you’re looking to address.
The cost of Laser genesis is dependent upon the number of treatments you will need and this will depend on your specific goals and concerns. For best results, most patients undergo multiple sessions (usually at least six for best results) spaced out every four to six weeks.
Nd: YAG Laser
Overview
The Nd: YAG laser is a versatile tool that can be used for a variety of treatments. It is commonly used to remove spider veins, facial veins, scars, and acne. It can also be used to improve the appearance of wrinkles. The Nd: YAG laser is safe and effective, and it offers patients minimal downtime and discomfort.
How Nd: YAG Works
Nd: YAG works as a non-ablative laser, which means that there is no break in skin tissue continuity during the treatment. The Nd: YAG systems deliver pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.
The Nd YAG laser does not target melanin, making it safe for all skin types, even dark skin tones. Its long wavelength means fewer pulses of energy are needed, making Nd:YAG laser treatments shorter and more comfortable than other laser systems with faster repetitions.
Benefits
- Safe and effective way to treat a variety of skin concerns.
- All skin types treated.
- Improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce the appearance of scars.
- Stimulate collagen production, resulting in firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
- No down time required after treatment, so you can immediately get back to your busy life.
How to Prepare
If you’re considering Nd: YAG laser treatment, there are a few things you can do to prepare for the best results. First, avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks before your treatment. This will help to minimize the risk of pigment changes. Second, it’s important to avoid using any topical medications or skin care products that could increase your skin’s sensitivity. Be sure to talk to your doctor about any products you should avoid using prior to treatment. Finally, make sure to clean your skin thoroughly before your appointment and remove any makeup or other products that could interfere with the laser treatments. By following these simple tips, you can help ensure that you’ll get the best results from your Nd: YAG laser treatments.
What to expect
The Nd: YAG laser treatment for veins is quick and relatively painless, and requires no downtime. The entire procedure usually takes less than an hour. During the procedure, the patient will lie down on a comfortable bed and a gel will be applied to the treatment area. The laser handpiece will then be passed over the skin, delivering pulses of energy to the vein. Most patients report feeling a mild warming sensation or slight sting when the laser first hits the skin, but this typically subsides as the treatment progresses. Local anesthesia or a numbing cream is sometimes used to help minimize any discomfort. Afterward, the gel will be wiped away and the patient will be free to resume their normal activities. In some cases, multiple treatment sessions may be necessary to achieve desired results. Side effects are typically limited to temporary reddening or swelling of the skin, which usually resolved within a few hours. Overall, Nd: YAG laser treatment is a safe and effective way to remove unwanted veins with minimal downtime.
Cutera Prowave
Overview
The Cutera Prowave is a type of laser hair removal device that uses microwave energy to destroy hair follicles. The Prowave is unique in that it can be used on a variety of skin types, including those with dark or tanned skin. Treatment with the Prowave is generally well tolerated, with most patients feeling only a slight feeling of warmth during the procedure. Hair removal with the Prowave is usually permanent, although some patients may require multiple treatments to achieve desired results.
How the Prowave Works
Cutera Prowave is a device that uses microwave energy to target hair follicles. The device emits long-wavelength microwaves that are absorbed by the water in the hair follicle.
